AND NATHAN THE STRONG GUY WHO DID A BACKFLIP:

We went hard weightlifting during this one, it was much different than training solo. I’m 100% never gonna represent the USA Olympics team but it’s pretty fun to try. I’m a bodybuilder but I’m alright at these things.

  1. Can't tell you how much I appreciate Travis Mash and all those at Mash Elite Performance coaching me as I wobble and wiggle through the jungle-like technicality of weightlifting.

    ►CHECK THEM OUT►https://www.mashelite.com/

WE'RE GOING TO GET NATHAN AND CLARENCE TO LIFT TOGETHER FOR CROSS ATLANTIC DESTRUCTION

  2. Lol, I got into oly lifting from bodybuilding/powerlifting about 8 months ago. I have become obsessed… I do mobility work everyday and lift at least 4 days a week every week no exceptions. This is not something you just "try out" once you get started you just can't stop and it really feels like you're never good enough, so you're constantly thinking about how you can improve. Be warned Juji…

  3. Listening to your commentary and hearing Travis Mash and Don McCauley has been such a pleasure to hear. The expertise the coaches and you relating it back to your own movements and your understanding was so good. I bet once you begin to bridge the gap between tricking and lifting you are gonna be even more epic.

  4. yeah it is an olympic lifting thing when somebodys doing a bigger lift to shut up and let them focus

kinda necessary for the full oly lifts with all their technical crap but can spill over to other lifts as well

it can be an eerie feeling if you walk up to the barbell and don't look anywhere else, the background noise just slowly fading away as you get closer

  5. Juji you might not believe it, but its really refreshing to see your calm and focused side aswell. It was a really insightful and interesting video to watch, especially with the commentary. So you definitely have some interesting and valueable characteristics to offer besides always going nuts with the horse mask ;). Also the environment was nice to see aswell and Travis Mash seems to be a really respectful and cool guy. Other than that keep training and learning … iam really looking forward how you will progress with the technique.

  6. This was a side of Juji that I'm not used to. You are extremely impressive bro. You fall into such focus, it legitimately mesmerising. Please explore more on camera boss! Well done lads!

  7. Listening to those coaches talk you could hear decades of experience condensed into some simple cues. There also seems to be some kind of zen like quality to weightlifting that can across on this video. Really enjoyable to watch

  8. I love this! Don is one of the best, most technical coaches out there. His understanding of biomechanics in application to weightlifting is unparalleled in the US. I've been watching your videos since you started tricking and to see you dip a little into my sport is pretty freaking awesome! I hope you stick with it bro! It's a great way to build power!

  9. I'm so impressed with this video. This is the best mixup from your normal kinda goofy weightlifting. You're not good at this and you need to focus and learn and it's so impressive to see you calm down and learn how to do something you're not comfortable with. Keep up the great work.

  10. This is one my favorite videos of your's. I love the plain talk about what is going through your mind while being trained and how it relates to how you've been taught to do things in the past. Great stuff :]

  11. Hey man, the reason you look up is to keep your shoulders perfectly in line with being over the bar. Also it allows you to sink your bottom lower and pull with your legs more.

  12. Just this week I started trying to weightlift… I agree 100% at 180lb with decent numbers, 95lb-135lb clean and jerks and snatches kicked my ass. the clean has so many ques to do all at once, I think this video was 100% what I was saying in my head.. It is humbling for sure!!

  13. I really enjoyed this video. I love olympic lifting, and I've been interested in seeing what you can do with them, so I've been super pumped to see you including them in your training. Also, Tom's comment on your willingness to keep learning touches on something I've really appreciated about you from the start. On the surface you're a wild and silly dude, but behind all that there's intelligence and you put a lot of thought into your life and training. I've always enjoyed the articles you've written over the years, because they were very informative and it's clear you did your homework. Your willingness to keep growing and learning new things shows.

  14. Juji you should work on some mobility for your front rack. Something in your lats, triceps and thoracic spine is limiting you (or all 3) which is why your wrist is getting so cranked

Proud of u juji, love seeing some serious lifting videos along side the crazy ones

  15. Everything about this video was fucking awesome. The coaches there are such a gold mine of information and seem really cool. I hope you're going to keep training there. Was this like a one time thing or will you be having weightlifting videos on a regular basis?

  16. Juji… you of all people should know that (for example)… just because someone studies or trains in [thing X]… even if [thing y] is SIMILAR in appearance or categorizations the world likes to give…

    …nope. Not the same. 🙂

I get this all the time when I show my live fight scene work. Everyone compares it to film fight scenes, and it's like apples & oranges. Sure, "fruit"… but still COMPLETELY different.

Everything worth its salt takes entirely different skill sets–even when they seem "nearly the same".

    But hey… YOU'RE Juji. I'm just… a dude. 😀 KEEP KICKIN' ARSE, YER RAD!!!

  17. AUDIO COMMENTARY LIKE ABBY POLLOCK- LEARNING ABOUT GRAVITY- ACTIVATE THE DETAILS- FUCKING A GAPEFRUIT FOR REPS- THIS SHIT IS HARD – NOT AS HARD AS MY LOVE FOR SAM- REALLY THOUGH THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS- JERK MY CLEAN BUT REALLY JERK IT

  18. I went through something like this. In jr/high school I did pole vault. I had bAd technique till end of soph year. By my senior year I cleared 14 feet. My end height was 10 as a sophomore. Technique is king.

  19. That camera guy is so bad… He missed all the technique tips of the weightlifter. He was filming the guy's face, because the face is obviously where all the action is in weightlifting…

  20. Juji is such a humble dude. He's made all these crazy successes, and yet he'll still sit there being told, no, you're not there yet, and thank them for telling him so. That's some serious maturity right there, regardless of what kind of shenanigans he gets into. I seriously respect that about him.

  21. I have been a martial artist for about 20 years, and came into weightlifting about 5 years ago, I love the parallels you draw between the two in this video because that's exactly why I fell in love with it.

  22. the thing with the spine is that there's a huge nerve there… i don;t know how's is called BUT if you manage to have this nerve active during the pull the explosivity of your shoulders will be high really high

  23. This was a very nice contrast to your regular videos, not to say the "regular" ones aren't good or entertaining. This actually shows humble and eager to learn you actually are. Great stuff! Keep it up, ill be ordering pair of pants soon to support you!

  24. Awesome content. Sure you did this mostly of your own volition, but thank you for sharing. I powerlifted in HS, and never pondered the technical and practical differences. No such thing as too much knowledge. Cream of Rice for the brain.

  25. I'm used to getting under the bar and front-squating the weight, then pushing it up. 185 is the most I can get overhead. Funny thing is that I can't front-squat 185. I do about 135. It's hard! 405×8 back-squat . Love juji and tom

  26. some good queues imo could be 1. big chest, tight back (start position), 2. hit the bar (at the right extension), 3. hands inside (as it connects with your upper thigh, curl your hands inwards as you pull upward) & elbows up at the same time

  27. The weightlifting technique is more straining because it requires more stabilization by both your front stabilizers and back stabilizers because you are pulling the bar straight up your center of gravity and without contraction of front and back muscles you would topple over. This technique is as opposed to what juji does which is more focused on mechanical pulling which to me seems to be better for building large muscles.

Another way to put it would be to say Olympic weightlifting is like a balancing act, very energy efficient in lifting the weight like it was a part of your body.

  28. Hi Juji! I noticed that you mentioned your lack of understanding why you were being instructed to keep your eye sight above eye level. In my experience it is because of the bodies positioning when you have the barbell above your head. When you look down your body will naturally wanna follow. When you look up your body will want to maintain balance. You did awesome brother! Weightlifting is great! Keep up the good work!

  29. comment if you think juji needs to get back into fucking weightlifting so this damn sport gets more airtime. Why doesn't TOm learn it? he clearly likes it and wants to fuck clarence flannery (that is a joke tom not an insult)
